மறைப்பேன்மன் யானிஃதோ நோயை இறைப்பவர்க்கு
ஊற்றுநீர் போல மிகும்.
Modern interpretation
I try to hide this love-sickness, but it grows like a spring that rises the more water is drawn from it. The more I pretend I am fine after a breakup, the harder the feelings can return.

உரைத்தலும் நாணுத் தரும்.
Modern interpretation
I cannot hide this pain, yet I am too shy to tell the person who caused it. Sometimes you want to message someone who hurt you, but embarrassment stops you from saying how much you still care.

Modern interpretation
If my eyes could travel to my beloved as easily as my thoughts do, they would not have to swim through tears. When you cannot visit someone you miss, your mind goes there while your eyes remain stuck at home.
